‘RIDE FOR RESILIENCE’ BACKGROUND

In 2019, thirty six cyclists, a mix of farmers and individuals associated with rural communities, rode into Mangoplah (outside of Wagga Wagga) on Tuesday 17th September after completing a challenging three day; 400km+ ride from Forbes, NSW to raise funds and awareness about building resilience in farming communities. ‘Ride For Resilience’ was the inaugural cycling event for Active Farmers. Each rider was responsible for raising a targeted amount. Over $110,000 was raised with Coleambally farmer Joe Briggs raising a remarkable $30,000. Money raised from this event, and future events like the Tassie charity ride, go to assist existing Active Farmers communities, as well as facilitate the introduction of more throughout Australia in the near future, and for health related workshops.

RIDE TASSIE 2022

The ‘Ride for Resilience’ event was held over 3 days 24th - 26th March 2022 and traversed the Meander Valley, Northern Midlands and West Tamar regions of Tasmania, travelling approximately 400km. The riders visited current Active Farmers communities of Hagley, Cressy and Campbell Town, whilst stopping in other small rural communities along the way!

FUNDRAISING EXPECTATIONS

The ‘Ride for Resilience’ event is a major fundraiser for Active Farmers charity.  The organisation provides group fitness classes and health related workshops in farming communities and aims to improve physical and mental health wellbeing, foster social interaction, build community connections and resilience. We currently have a network of over 50 communities, run by 36 personal trainers that extends through every state of Australia and we continue to expand and grow each year. To continue to support our existing communities and expand to new communities we needed to raise funds through this event.

The fundraising target for 2022 of $50,000 was surpassed ($76,000) during the ride, and fundraising will continue until 30th April. Donations can be made by clicking on the link below. Active Farmers is a registered Not For Profit (NFP) health promotion charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status.
