A little bit about Sonja

Sonja grew up on the north coast near Grafton and was a very physically active girl, enjoying horse riding, climbing trees, Irish dancing and playing soccer in her late teens, but also use to love spending hours reading novels. Sonja first became interested in the fitness industry as a means of helping her self and others learn more about how to keep fit and healthy for a better quality of life. Having worked in an Aged Care facility as a personal care assistant for the elderly she saw first hand what could happen to people who did not understand the importance of eating well and staying active, and the long term benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle. She has also experienced first hand through her own experience the difficulties of dealing with anxiety, depression and fatigue and knows  through experience the massive difference exercise and diet can have on overcoming these difficult issues.

Sonja studied a Bachelor of Arts between 2008 and 2010 with the intention of becoming a teacher, but at the end of her degree suffered from a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed with fatigue that left her with anxiety. She struggled with fatigue, anxiety and at times depression, for a year or so before making the decision to try and improve her physical and mental health by learning more about exercise, nutrition and lifestyle changes. From 2013, when she first began her cert III in fitness, to now Sonja has been expanding and deepening her knowledge on the role that fitness, nutrition and proper relaxation play in maintaining a happy and healthy life. She has been able to control her own anxiety, depression and energy levels and has also helped many clients to do the same, while also getting fitter, losing weight and feeling good about themselves through Personal Training and group exercise for the past few years.

Sonja is also a qualified Health Coach and provides ante-natal and post-natal fitness classes in The Rock or through one-on-one sessions."
