Welcome Sheree!
Active Farmers would like to introduce and welcome Sheree to the Active Farmers team.
Born and raised in Wagga Wagga NSW, Sheree grew up spending weekends and School holidays on family farms. She dreamed of one day raising her own family on the land.
For the last 8 years she have been lucky enough to fulfill her childhood dream and live on their sheep and cropping family property at Grong Grong, NSW with husband Luke and 3 beautifully busy children Elsie, Jack and Stella.
Growing up in Wagga Wagga, Sheree was always involved in team sports and had an underlying passion for sport and fitness. Spending weekends and after school playing Netball, softball, tennis, water skiing and dancing. As kids they were always involved in the local footy and netball competitions. Then then into her adult life being a part of the Ganmain Grong Grong Matong Senior and Junior Football and Netball Clubs as a player and a Committee Member and then later as a volunteer. These days things that bring her joy include family time, bike riding, camping holidays to the beach, learning to surf and learning guitar.
Sheree worked in the Public Service for the best part of 13 years working with the disadvantaged and have always been looking for something to fulfill her passion for the rural community and living an active lifestyle. She feels like everyone deserves an opportunity to stay fit and stay connected no matter where they live, what they earn, their age, abilities or fitness levels. Being active and feeling connected is so important to the mental health of people in small rural communities and in keeping those communities alive and strong. Everyone leads busy lives these days and it’s important to take the time to look after your health and social wellbeing. It wasn’t until she was on the farm full time with her babies, and not working, that she realised how isolating it can be and how important it is to stay linked with the community.
In 2016 Sheree left the public service in pursuit of finding her passions and spending more time with her family. She have completed her Certificate 3 in Fitness and is looking at furthering her studies into Personal Training and Nutrition coaching in the near future to help build my skills, and to offer more services in this area.
‘I am so excited to be a part of the Active Farmers team as I love everything it stands for and I can’t wait to see you all and bring Active Farmers to Ganmain and surrounding areas. Together we can sweat, laugh and feel like we are part of a team again.’
