Rural Mindfulness with Nel Hunter

Hello,
How are you? I hope 2018 is off to an active start! My name is Narelle Hunter and for those who don’t know me, I run the Rural Mindfulness workshops across our ever-growing Active Farmers network. I am a mother of four daughters, a farmer’s wife and business partner living in Bribbaree for the past 25 years and a Dru yoga and meditation teacher.

I specialise in personal wellness coaching for stress management, illness and injury recovery, sleep management and healthy corporate team strategies. Working with cancer care, motor neurone disease (MND), palliative care patients, disability management and post-traumatic stress is a privilege because being allowed into the space when a person is feeling stressed, vulnerable and fearful takes courage and trust from the person I’m supporting.

These days I feel like caring for my physical and mental health, while truly appreciating life’s day to day detail is a tribute to those I have met who are managing truly difficult situations with courage, love and compassion for others. I don’t want to take anything for granted, even if it is the smallest thing like listening to music, tasting food, giving a loved one a big hug or meeting up and having a laugh with friends.

The truth is we all get busy and there are so many things that can be so challenging, particularly in the farming industry. We can’t control the weather, we can’t control the market variability, the long work hours, the machinery breakdowns, the disease out breaks etc. Farming can be hard on the body and harder on the mind at times, so what is the solution?

Rural Mindfulness is approaching today with an open mind and heart, seeing the environment and everyone in it with fresh eyes. Rural Mindfulness is eating a little slower, seeing a bit more detail, having richer conversations, listening and noticing more. Rural Mindfulness is taking a few minutes to notice your tight shoulders and tighter hamstrings and responding with a stretch that makes all the difference. Rural Mindfulness is letting your farming business be your business and your personal life drive your passion, your purpose and your dreams.

The greatest benefit, I was so surprised by, when I started living in the present moment was my energy levels improved out of sight. I rarely feel tired these days and I still find this incredible because I have some very full weeks that include travelling long distances.

Check out my calendar below and I invite you choose a date that works for your community. I’m happy to travel to you and offer the fun 2hr workshop or we now have an online “Active Farmers Challenge” with lots of content from my Rural Mindfulness Workshop for you to enjoy.

I do hope to meet you soon. In the meantime, I have a tip for you –

NOTICE IF YOUR BREATH CHANGES IN DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES. WITHOUT CHANGING THE BREATH RATIO JUST SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING WHEN YOU DRIVE, WHEN IN A MEETING, WHEN WORRYING ABOUT SOMETHING, WHEN RELAXED. THE TRICK IS TO BRING A STEADY BREATH INTO MOST CIRCUMSTANCES. WHEN THE BREATH IS CALM, THE BODY FOLLOWS

WITH A SHARP MIND, RELAXED MUSCLES, BETTER IMMUNE FUNCTION AND A HEALTH DIGESTIVE SYSTEM – ALL THE THINGS YOU NEED TO COPE WELL.

Kind Regards Narelle Hunter
