Life is so much better when you have a good sleep!

Do you struggle with sleep?

Do you lie awake at night thinking about all the things you need to do tomorrow?

Do you go to bed too late and cut your sleeping window too short?

As a general rule of thumb everyone needs to have 7-9 hours sleep every night to help your bodies recover from your daily activities. When you have adequate sleep you are far better equip to deal with day to day stresses and decision making, you will be far more productive and alert and naturally, you will have more energy!

So why is it that so many of us don't get enough sleep??? Perhaps it could be hormones, children, stress or simply the wind down towards sleep needs some work! I have listed below some simple steps you can follow (if not already) to increase your chances of getting a good nights sleep;

1.) Write a 'to do list' before bed - sometimes thoughts racing around your mind will prevent you from sleeping. Why not write everything down, then you can be at ease that you are in control and won't forget anything tomorrow!

2.) Stop the screen time! It is recommended that you wind down screen time and bright lights one hour prior to bedtime. If you struggle sleeping then lying in front of the TV until 12am at night isn't going to help!

3.) Avoid caffeine from 4pm onwards

4.) Practice Mindfulness - Narelle Hunter, our Mindfulness specialist can enlighten you into a whole new world of tools and resources to help you get some sleep! Head to her page by clicking here to get in touch with Nel!

5.) Your environment - make sure you have a dark, quiet room with little distractions such asa a TV.

I cannot stress enough how important a good night's sleep is! If you would like more information  as mentioned above get in touch with Nel - she will revolutionise your life. An additional resource is the Sleep Health Foundation guides
